The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest story ever told. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 tells us this gospel is what has given mankind salvation!
Before the world was created, our God the Creator, knew man would need a Savior (1 Peter1:20). In the beginning, God created man in His image, put him in a garden, and gave him dominion over all creation. Satan then entered the picture and deceived man. Once man sinned against God, it brought death (Romans 5:12).
Once man was punished for his disobedience and separated from God, the Lord set in motion His ultimate plan to save man from death (Genesis 3:15). Working through Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God established a people of His own, the Israelites. He gave them the Law through Moses, teaching them what sin was. Atonement for sin was made every year through the sacrifice of a lamb without blemish. However, this sacrifice did not have the ability to take away the sin but was only a reminder of it (Hebrews 10:1-4).
When the proper time came, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to be born of a virgin woman through Abraham’s seed. Although He was God in the flesh, Jesus lived as a human. He experienced human emotion and sorrow (John 11, Matthew 26), and was even tempted by Satan (Matthew 4). While experiencing this mortal life, He still remained perfect and without sin! He performed countless miracles during His time on earth and taught multitudes about His Father in heaven.
The time then came for Jesus to fulfill His purpose for being sent from the Father. Since He was without sin, He was to become the perfect sacrifice for all mankind (1 Peter 1:19). God gave His one and only Son (John 3:16), and Jesus freely gave His life (1 John 3:16) in order for man to be forgiven of his sin once for all (Hebrews 10:10). After His death, Jesus was buried and rose again after three days as He promised. He now sits at the right-hand of God until the time comes for Him to return again and bring His children to live with Him forever.
Thanks be to God and His Son Jesus Christ because mankind has obtained salvation through this gospel (Romans 1:16)!
